CARE is a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty currently in 72 different countries. Our mission is to serve individuals and families in the poorest communities in the world. Drawing strength from our global diversity, resources and experience, we promote innovative solutions and are advocates for global responsibility. We place special focus on working alongside poor women because, equipped with the proper resources, women have the power to help whole families and entire communities escape poverty. Women are at the heart of CARE's community-based efforts to improve basic education, prevent the spread of HIV, increase access to clean water and sanitation, expand economic opportunity and protect natural resources. CARE also delivers emergency aid to survivors of war and natural disasters, and helps people rebuild their lives.

Working in Country Offices in conflict and in extreme poverty poses unique implications for how we communicate, train and connect with our employees. Join Meg Burns, Director of Global Staff and Organizational Development and Rebecca Baggett, CARE Academy Program Officer, to learn more about how the team of two are working hard to extend our reach "through" line mgt as much as possible. During this talk they will discuss:

  • CARE's approach to addressing the challenges of staff development and talent management in an international setting
  •  the different approaches CARE is taking to meet the needs of a diverse staff of over 8,000 based in over 60 countries around the world
  • the tools that are being utilized to make training and development as efficient and effective as possible and learn about what is working and what could be done differently
